Thank You Harvest Bible Chapel and Oak Creek Community Center for Hosting the Patrick Cudahy Worker Relief Fundraiser
Updated On: Aug 03, 2009 (14:32:00)
On July 22nd community members and union workers gathered at the Oak Creek Community Center to celebrate our brave firefighters and to donate to the Patrick Cudahy Worker Relief Fund at a fundraiser. The event hosted by the Harvest Bible Chapel and the Oak Creek Community Center. These organizations graciously offered to hold this event for their fellow community members whose families were directly impacted by the Patrick Cudahy fire, and for the firefighters who bravely fought the blaze. As of this event the Patrick Cudahy Worker Relief Fund has raised over $30,000 and growing.
Also at the event non-perishable food items were collected for the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee who have been organizing a food pantry for the Patrick Cudahy workers. Without the help of organizations like the Hunger Task Force, the Harvest Bible Chapel, the Milwaukee County Labor Council, Oak Creek Community Center and many more, many workers and families would be left in need. It is through the solidarity of our community that makes it possible to withstand this tragedy and begin to rebuild.
News Media from both tv and newspapers came out to see the community and Union support the workers at Patrick Cudahy:
